kiln restructuring

the "little river anagama" is changing.  I have been thinking of this since i returned from Kanzaki sensei's 10 day anagama firing in shigaraki.  The kiln was already inspired from his design (with out having seen it way back when) so we are removing the back chamber of the kiln.  due to my arthritis i cannot fire it anyway due to its poor design (having never seen a kiln i built one anyway).  when the back chamber is remove and the new chimney is installed i feel that after 10 years the kiln will finally be realized.  the chimney will be like Kanzaki sensei's in that it will run at a 1 : 3 grade up the hill and have a short "chimney" sticking up from the ground.  i have dreamt of this for years and look forward to seeing how the kiln will preform.  every day, every firing i think of that month in shigaraki and and every detail and every word he said.  in my mind i thank him every day for teaching me soooo much with so few words

Canada Day Open House

On Tuesday July 1st, burnt.normal, our home/studio/gallery will be open!  From 10am to 6pm, we will be offering an outdoor demonstration, gallery/studio tours, pottery sales, tea, as well as an outdoor workshop table for kids and adults.  Come and learn about different methods of firing, and make something--we'll fire it for you in our electric kiln.

All are welcome!
